Things that Can Make Me Happy

Whenever I'm nursing baby K, I sometimes have my laptop in front of me and browse the internet. I usually read parenting and family friendly blogs and sites. The other day, I came across this website called Parent Society. It has articles written by moms from all over the world. I was reading probably every article there is because they are really helpful for me as a first time mom especially when it comes to taking care of my little one.

One article that I couldn't agree more is The 6 Things New Moms Really Want. The author, Jennifer Carsen, stated all the things that I want since having a baby and no, they are not material things. Sleep, food, shower, clean house, sweets, and time for myself are what she listed and they are just exactly what I wanted. Being a new mom is very tiring especially when you're a first time mom and is still learning everything. Ever since I became a mom, all I wanted was to be able to eat properly, shower in peace and have a good night sleep. Simple things yet means a lot to me and I don't get how Patrick seems to understand it. He always asks me what I want or if I want to buy something 'cause he'll gladly buy it for me. Actually, I do have a lot of things I want to buy but for now, I'm putting it all off. I just want to have these simple things because to be honest, they can make me happy.

This is when I realised that not all material things can make you happy. I know for sure that a 30-minute shower makes me really happy because that does not happen that often. My longest shower would be a probably a 5-minute one. I don't really hate it. In fact, I'm glad that I could still have a shower even if it's just me and Baby K at home. It's just sometimes, you miss things that you could do freely when you don't have a baby yet. These also serves my alone time and break from all the things that I do. They are simple things but they do mean a lot.

  1. I wholeheartedly agree! I used to want a big house, a nice car and annual trips to Hawaii. Now that I've had kids, I just want to be a mom to them... which has meant sacrificing those things and living off of one income. This choice is what makes me happy (that and an occasional hot shower).

    Wishing you a lovely day.
