My New Toy

As you all know, I've been ranting on my previous posts about my missing camera. I have looked everywhere and even asked the dentist's office if they have seen it there. Thinking that it is gone forever, I have considered investing on a good quality camera. I have been wanting to get a Digital SLR but it's out of our budget and we still have the camera that my mom lent us. However, I wanted to have good quality pictures and videos of my family. My current camera isn't good at taking videos because it's too dark at night.

So, I started browsing for cameras. Patricia helped me look for one and explained to me the differences, why that one is good and the other one isn't, and so on. I have also Patrick if we could get it and after hours of nagging, he finally said yes. But on saturday night, I saw it while we were driving home from church. It's in the car! I never thought of finding it in there because I know I didn't use it there. But who cares, I found it. Finding the camera made me double think about getting a new one. I considered it though because I think it is time to get a new one especially now that more celebrations are coming up. I want to have a good camera that I'll be able to use to capture her first christmas, first birthday, first summer, and so on.

There are so many Digital SLRs available and unlike before, you can take videos in most SLRs which isn't that expensive in my opinion. The camera that I picked is Canon EOS 600D. Patricia told me, and the sales person too, that this is a medium level camera.

I'm excited to use this
A few features which I'm loving right now are Movies in Full HD, Creative Filters, Angle LCD Monitor. I love how SLRs nowadays can take videos which meant I won't have to buy a separate video camera. This is also the first camera I've seen that has filters which you can edit right in the camera.

In this camera, you can also capture pictures in places where the lighting isn't too bright and still get a good pictures. When we took the family picture in my dad's birthday dinner the other night, we did not have any light in the dining room because it was broken and the picture still turned out great.

Actually, there are a lot of good features that this camera have. This is the first time I've actually paid attention what the specs are because I've never owned a good camera before. Here's a link which shows the full specs and features of the camera: EOS 600D Camera. Everything has been good with this camera so far. I have been reading the manual, and practicing to be able to master it. I am not good with taking pictures, as you have noticed, but with this camera, I think I'll have to learn (LOL!). The only thing that I had a a little problem was the kind of memory card that I have. I used the one from my old camera which is a class 4, 4gb SD card. I thought it was okay because it works but when it comes to taking videos, it could only take videos for up to 10 seconds. I googled what seems to be causing the problem and I found that I need to have at least a class 6 or higher memory card for it to work better. So now, I'm about to buy a new memory card. That's the only issue I had with the camera but other than that, everything is great. You don't have to be a professional photographer to be able to use this camera. I have limited knowledge and yet I still manage to understand this camera. It isn't too easy nor too difficult. I am loving every bit of it.

Disclaimer: I wasn't paid to do this post whatsoever. I bought this camera because I liked it, that's all.

  2. Congrats on your new toy. I've been looking into getting a new camera as well. I currently use one from Panasonic that I've had for at least 5 years and I think it's time to upgrade. I may just buy one for Christmas for myself. You got some great shots by the way and I'm sure you'll master it in no time. :)
